Perhaps more has been effected by concealing our own intentions than by discovering those of our enemy.”''
– Charles Caleb Colton, Lacon: Or, Many Things in Few Words, 1824
|} Stealth is the skill of moving quietly, staying out of sight, and avoiding unwanted attention. The higher your Stealth, the easier it is to remain hidden from sight and sound. It determines how quickly you can blend into cover, how silently you move, and how long you can remain undetected. =Skill Perks=

'''(25%) Perk:''' Running while hidden becomes possible, but every step costs Focus.

'''(50%) Perk:''' Hiding while in combat now allowed, normal LOS and distance rules still apply.

'''(75%) Perk:''' Player no longer has a chance to make footstep sounds when moving while hidden.

'''(100%) Perk:''' Minimum distance while behind another mobile set to Zero.

=Getting Started= To begin, use the [stealth or [hide command. You can also activate Stealth from the Abilities menu. Select the Stealth ability there directly, or add it to your action bar for quicker access during play. Each time you attempt to hide, move while hidden, or avoid detection, you have a chance to raise your Stealth skill. Simply practicing these actions over time will improve your ability. It is important to note that Stealth in Icebound is not invisibility. You will be spotted if you enter another person’s direct line of sight. This system is designed to reward active and skillful stealth instead of passive invisibility. Likewise, counterplay comes from the target paying attention to their surroundings instead of relying on automated perception. =Understanding Line of Sight & Detection= When you are stealthed, you will see a white half-circle in front of and behind other players. These shapes show the other characters passive Line of Sight (LOS), and if you cross these thresholds they will be able to spot you. *Front half-circle: Their forward vision. Entering this area will immediately reveal you. *Rear half-circle: Their backward awareness. This shrinks as your Stealth skill improves. **At GM Stealth: The rear half-circle is almost gone, allowing you to walk right up behind someone without being detected. If you fail a skill check outside of the LOS guides, the other player will hear audible footsteps. This will not reveal you automatically, but it may prompt them to investigate the area if they were paying attention! ----------- Return to [[Skills]]
