“It is not the material, but the absence of the human labour, which makes the thing worthless; and a piece of terra cotta, or of plaster of Paris, which has been wrought by the human hand, is worth all the stone in Carrara, cut by machinery.”

Sculpting isn’t just stone and clay anymore—it’s whatever pliable material you can get your hands on. Bone, tallow, scrap, twigs—if it can be shaped, it has value. Your craft is both utility and artistry, used to create tools, equipment, ornament, and whatever else the world demands.
